Dr. Deshpande spent three years practicing medicine, working as an Internist in India. Given his desire to become a General Surgeon, Dr. Deshpande relocated to Sunderland, England. While living in England, Dr. Deshpande worked and trained at the Sunderland Orthopedic & Accident Hospital, and later practiced at the Royal Hospital of Sunderland located in the UK. In 1974, Dr. Deshpande moved to the United States where he completed residency programs in Brooklyn, New York and Cleveland, Ohio.
